About Caroline
Caroline is a Highly Specialist Psychologist at Hammersmith and Fulham CAMHS. Alongside her therapeutic work at CAMHS she is safe-guarding lead, facilitates peer supervision and runs a team reflective space. She also works as a Clinical Supervisor at Dallington Associates. Caroline is currently undertaking an MA in Family Therapy at The Tavistock Clinic which she will complete in 2024.
Caroline has worked in the NHS as a Registered General Nurse (RGN), Nurse Practitioner and Counselling Psychologist for 25 years across a variety of settings. These include Accident and Emergency, Primary Health Care, and Homeless and Refugee outreach teams. She has a special interest in working with couples and families. Her systemic training as well as Terry Neal, Ester Perel and Dr Sue Johnson's Emotionally Focused Therapy informs her practice when working with couples, including co-parenting post-divorce. Caroline uses NVR (Non-Violent Resolution) to support families and young people with challenging behaviours. NVR advocates that there are always ways of developing peaceful and harmonious relationships in both our personal and professional lives. The ideas of NVR can be useful for parents who need support to establish and maintain a warm, loving and containing presence in the face of developmental, social and emotional struggles in their children. A further specialist interest is working with Trauma where she uses EMDR and other evidenced based treatments to help individuals overcome post-traumatic stress. She also uses CBT to work with mental health presentations such as anxiety, low mood and depression. Neuro-biology and Somatic psychology are also areas that inform Caroline's practice. This includes helping individuals to understand choices around mental health medication, how the body and mind are 'one' and are both informed by the 'fight or flight' response, attachment styles and survival strategies. Research projects have included an exploration of the experience of parental divorce for children and young people. Caroline considers it a privilege to have the opportunity to think together about what meanings have been attached to experience and enjoys helping individuals to flourish and grow. |
